I have been sitting in basically the same spot, in the P.A.T.E.O.T.U. For over two decades, so I think I have a good handle on what is great about the place, and what to look out for. What is great, is the fact that it has an awesome neighborhood atmosphere, and that you can always find a good conversation in the place. What is a bit off, is that the service can be a bit slow, and that one bartender in particular, has no people skills. The food is way above pub grub, and is always too much for one person, so bring a friend, and split the cost, which brings it right in line, with other pubs in Portland. The recent rise in the cost of beer has gotten some of the regulars a bit bent out of shape, but this increase is the first in over 6 years, and was long over due...Try a pint of import beer at the Horse Brass, and see what it sets you back! When you weigh out all the options, it is a good place to have a beer, talk politics, and grab some excellent food; that is what has kept me coming back for 21 years.  More Reviews
