Regulars just call it the ''Glad Tav'' because it's stashed away on a mostly residential stretch of Gladstone Ave. The full name, though, is eminently fitting. When you walk in the door, it's a bit like stepping into a wormhole that leads to a Summer of Love era, Haight-Ashbury style crash pad. This mysterious hold-out from the groovy days of Janis Joplin and Ken Kesey features psychedelic artwork by members of the owner's family, time-worn shag carpeting and even smoldering incense. Still, you know you're in Portland when you see the vast, constantly rotating selection of microbrews on tap. The soundtrack is college favorites from Bob Dylan on down to U2. A warren of rooms on different levels creates some privacy, and individual nooks are tricked out with funky lamps, mosaic topped tables and even houseplants. And there's plenty of room for the pool tables and soft-tip dart boards. Food is basic and hearty -- students from nearby Reed College subsist on the nachos and home made lentil soup.

Wow, what an over-priced tacky horrible place!! The service was awful at best, I do have to say that there was a good selection but you gotta sell a kidney to afford a beer. Overall it was a bad experience compounded by a rude staff. I would never go back!

This family owned pub has been in business for 22 years, they must have something going for them to stay in business THAT long. All of the menu items are hand prepared at the pub, so if there out of something it's because the food is so good.the bar staff handle the bar and the kithchen and bussing the tables and dishwashing so if their a little cranky on a friday nite it's because they have worked there butt off serving you. They make there money the old fashioned way they earn it, not with lottery machines or strippers. As far as the prices go , the beer isn't any more expensive than the laurelthirst. Get real and stop whining.

This place is AWESOME! Sorry if you guys are used to PBR and prissy little bartenders that know how to make a margarita only from the mix, but this place is dark and has great beer on tap. Awesome juke box, pool tables, great murals, and GOLDEN TEE!!!!!!!!
