Here's one high-rise hotel that really makes the most of its stature: rooms at the top of Portland's Hotel Vintage Plaza (called 'Starlite Suites') feature wall-to-wall conservatory-style windows, which are tilted toward the sky to make stargazing possible from the comfort of one's bed. And there's no beating the view, with twinkling downtown Portland all around and Mt. Hood to the east. For those not planning on spending their entire stay staring out the window, however, there's lots more to enjoy in this top-shelf hotel, including wine tastings each evening by the fireside living room, the celebrated Pazzo Italian Ristorante downstairs and luxurious jet-equipped spa tubs in its two-story townhouse suites.
