Many have forgotten that Nordstrom got its start as a shoe store in the Northwest. Sure, it's since become a national behemoth of glitzy clothing stores, complete with pianists on staff and fancy cafes, but at its heart Nordstrom is still a shoe store. Naturally, you can find better prices elsewhere, but Nordstrom offers a stunning selection, lots of sizes (a real problem in some shoe stores), and nearly fawning service. Best of all, Nordstrom takes back just about any shoe for any problem in a show of old-school service at its best.
