On Deck Sports Bar and Grill   

The images on the TV screens are sharp and brilliant: four plasma screens and 20 high definition models are scattered around the room. The food is upscale, for a sports bar: top sirloin (cut into the shape of a baseball, no less); chicken with polenta; asparagus and new potatoes in place of french fries and ketchup. But the khaki-clad crowd isn't too well-heeled to cheer or moan loudly as the play-by-play dictates. The place has a clubby, masculine feel. The main room has a sweeping, spiral pattern accentuated by dark, polished wood and high windows. If you can tear yourself away from the TVs, On Deck's deck is gorgeous. At nearly 10,000 square feet, it affords plenty of fresh air and a wide-open view of the ever-changing Portland sky.
