Barry's, one of the oldest nightclubs in New England, opened its doors in 1979, but don't think this place is old-fashioned. Barry's is one of the few clubs in the Northeast that stays open until 2AM every night.There are special events each night of the week. All summer, an all-ages dance party comes to Barry's Mondays and Fridays, when anyone, even those under 18, are invited to participate in the $100 dance contest. (Beware, these nights are alcohol- and smoke-free, and on Fridays everyone under 18 gets kicked out at 11PM). Tuesday night is a party for the older crowd (those 40 and over), and proper dress is required. There's a free buffet and music from the '50s to today. Saturdays were made for the 30-and-over crowd, when there is a free buffet and music from the '70s and later. Ladies nights and special cover deals occur throughout the week, too.If you don't feel like waiting in the long line that tends to form outside Barry's, pick up a VIP card. White, silver and gold cards are available, and each offers different benefits -- but any card allows the holder to skip the wait and dance on through the doors. Four VIP rooms (doesn't The Garden of Eden sound like a restful place to spend a night?) are also add to the atmosphere at this club.Make sure you are dressed to impress at Barry's, too. While Tuesdays and Fridays are the only no-jeans, no-sneaker nights, there are never any hats, athletic wear, work boots, sneakers, muscle shirts or T-shirts allowed.Voted best nightclub by ABC Channel 6, Barry's is a hot spot to spend any night of the week.
