LizBizTheWhiz's Review
This place serves food that
is anything but Mexican.
Maybe if i wasn't expecting
it to actually BE Mexican
food, I wouldn't have been
as disappointed, but the
food was bland and didn't
have any Mexican spices,
they overcharged for their
nasty food, and the service
was terrible. And for God's
sake, they call it a Mexican
restaurant and they don't
even have any cheese
dip. Their nachos are
some old tortilla chips
covered with cheddar
cheese. Long story short,
I'm never going back.
Horrible
This place gives new meaning to disgusting fajitas. Service is always very slow and usually the blender, ice machine, something is broken so you can't get what they have on the menu.

Tortilla Flats has the BEST RITAS around. They are not watered down, just plain great. We go every friday or saturday night and have been going for the past 6 or 7 years. The entrees are fairly bland, but let's face it rhode islanders if the food was spicey like what you would get in the mid-southwest you would complain that it was too hot. Sometimes you have to make do. There are no other places like the flats in RI. I've tried them all from Casa LaPita to Chevy's and then some in between. The Flats still wins hands down in my book. The salsa is freshly made daily, hot, mild or mixed. I prefer the mixed and the hot. The app's along with the special's are the best. As for some of the comments about finding a hair in your food, it happens, either send it back or take it out and eat the food. If we knew half of what goes on in the kitchen's of some of the best restaurants, we wouldn't eat out at all!

The "Flats" was the best Tex-Mex Restaurant in Providence in the 80's with excellant food. I stopped going in the early 90's. Stopping back about a year ago for a favorite dish Chili Rellanos was a shock. The pepper tasted like it had been stuffed with Alpo. It must stay open due to the bar business.
