Rate and Write a Review Caserta is an old-fashioned kind of pizza place, where you place your order at the counter and then watch anxiously for it to come out of the oven. It's the kind of place that still serves pizza the way it did back in 1946 when it first opened. The folks at Caserta never heard of ''pan-pizza'' or ''thin-crust'' pizza. At this place, there's only one kind of pizza, and that's the way customers seem to like it. The crust at Caserta is thick but not too thick, crisp on the outside and doughy inside. Toppings lean toward the traditional, like pepperoni, spinach, sausage and peppers. Choose your toppings on a flat pizza or stuffed into a dough pocket like a calzone. Even fans of Caserta's bemoan the cafeterialike interior and lack of decor. If you're looking for ambience, keep looking. If you're the fussy type who eats pizza with a knife and fork, you might as well stay at home -- there are no utensils at Caserta. Of course, you could always bring your own.
