Chevys Fresh Mex is a Mexican chain restaurant, one of many popping up with increasing regularity across the state. What makes Chevys different, however, is the concept: freshness. The menu offers many lofty promises: fresh salsa blended every hour; tortilla chips served fresh and warm; fresh avocados smashed daily; and no cans in the kitchen. On a superficial level, Chevys looks like most other Mexican chain restaurants. There are various Mexican paraphernalia on the walls, from serapes to sombreros. A tortilla machine, called El Machino, continuously spits out warm, flat tortillas. Colors are bright and vivid; atmosphere is fun and convivial. The menu is lengthy, with fresh takes on familiar Mexican-American dishes. Appetizers include fajita nachos, chicken taquiots and spicy wings. Entrees include an array of enchiladas, tamales, quesadillas and tacos, available individually or in combinations. Other offerings include fish tacos, burritos and flautas. Prices are low, with most menu items less than $10.

RESTAURANT CLOSED FOR YEARS!
By statelines on 02/18/2008
They gave you plenty of food and it was fresh. However, all good things, I guess, must end and it ended years ago. There's another Mexican restaurant near Sears, off of Bald Hill Road, called On The Border.....good atmosphere, great food, jumbo drinks and you NEVER walk out hungry!

All right, so it's not exactly what we can get in TX or AZ, but for Southern New England it's a great addition to the dining scene. Salsa and truly fresh tortilla chips are a plus, they use REAL poblano peppers for their chile relleno (most local places use bell peppers, and it just doesn;t cut it!),and if you like it hot they will MAKE it hot, but it is nice that you have your choice of 'temperature'. Chevy's is good at what it tries to be!
