Caserta is an old-fashioned kind of pizza place, where you place your order at the counter and then watch anxiously for it to come out of the oven. It's the kind of place that still serves pizza the way it did back in 1946 when it first opened. The folks at Caserta never heard of ''pan-pizza'' or ''thin-crust'' pizza. At this place, there's only one kind of pizza, and that's the way customers seem to like it. The crust at Caserta is thick but not too thick, crisp on the outside and doughy inside. Toppings lean toward the traditional, like pepperoni, spinach, sausage and peppers. Choose your toppings on a flat pizza or stuffed into a dough pocket like a calzone. Even fans of Caserta's bemoan the cafeterialike interior and lack of decor. If you're looking for ambience, keep looking. If you're the fussy type who eats pizza with a knife and fork, you might as well stay at home -- there are no utensils at Caserta. Of course, you could always bring your own.

THE BEST IN RI
By vicmikels on 04/03/2007
There is nothing like it anywhere in RI. The place is always packed and does a huge take-out business. The spinach pies and wimpy skimpies are great. A must try!

OVERATED

The bottom line is if Caserta's Pizza was somewhere in Rhode Island like Coventry or N.Smithfield, it would be your average, everyday pizza palor... -Parking, horrendous. -staff, miserable. -Cleansiness/appearance, nothing to write home about. -Pizza, average at best. Believe me, the only reason people rave about this place is because of the location. It's the whole "aura" about it, mainly where it is and the history of "Fereral Hill"....Forgettaboutit....
