Charlie Goodnight's is far from a po-dunk, local comedy club--especially when you consider big-time comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Ray Romano, and Ellen Degeneres have all yukked it up on stage. Aside from the big names Goodnight's draws, the club also offers fine dining and lots of laughs from amateurs to professionals throughout the week. Wednesdays are 'Comedy Showcase' nights featuring local and regional talent. Five bucks will get you in (two with a college I.D.) and the show is free if you have dinner at Goodnight's Ha Bistro Above before hand. The restaurant is perched on the third floor of the building and the menu stocks 'opening acts' like shrimp and corn fritters and Smithfield's barbecue ribs and 'headliners' like Gorgonzola rubbed filet mignon and rotisserie duck. Thursdays through Saturdays are when featured acts hit the stage including funny-folks like Pauly Shore, Joe Rogan of "Fear Factor" and John Heffron, 2004's 'Last Comic Standing.' Show prices range $10 - $30. After you're all laughed out, scoot next door to the City Limits Saloon for line-dancing and bull-riding (you get in free with your comedy ticket stub) or head downstairs to Underground for late-night tapas, drink specials and dancing.
