When you want to hit the dance floor to the tune of the latest hip-hop and rap hits with some old-school beats mixed in, put on your best threads and head to Black Tie Nightlife. Although there's something going every night of the week at this large Raleigh club, the crowds tend to amass more on the weekends when the DJ brings the best of both worlds together -- anything from Eric B. and Rakim to Snoop Dogg. If you feel like dancing, just follow the laser and strobe lights. They kind of give the floor a Saturday Night Fever feel when they're all going at once. If you're looking for something to do during the week, you can enter a dance contest on Mondays, check out an open mic with music and spoken word on Tuesdays, hang with the college crowd on Wednesdays and party to '70s and '80s hits on Thursdays. If dancing isn't your thing, grab a seat at the fireplace for a quite conversation or rack 'em up at one of the several pool tables.

Horrible!!
By jayvon82 on 07/12/2006
Every time I have been, I've been disappointed. I tried their Tuesday open mic night 7/11/06 only to be greeted by a empty parking lot and a locked door. I tried a saturday but by time they let all the members in.. you stuck in line with an apology about the club has reached maximum capacity. Then they have a answer machine that they don't even update you with the correct date or cancelled events (hence open mic night). Nobody EVER picks up the phone - so don't bother calling! Don't even bother showing up. You'd have a better time sipping a latte at starbucks. -JH
