Arts is perhaps the most funkified and classy barbecue joint youll ever lick your fingers in. Opened less than a year ago by Atlanta native Art Holmes, the restaurant brings southern hospitality to the West, and serves up the only sweet tea youll find for miles around. Holmes bought this place pretty much as-is, so he inherited the groovy green walls, neat wooden tables whose glass tops trap a cool-looking mix of corn kernels and seeds, hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling front windows. The place is airy and super clean, and Arts touch is evident in the music posters that hang on the walls. Arts lunch menu features such southern favorites as red beans and rice, buffalo wings, fried catfish, and homemade peach cobbler a la mode. At dinner, youll find a range of dishes and prices, from Hot Links (sliced sausage labeled as HOT! HOT! HOT!) to a combo platter of jumbo fried shrimp, mamas southern fried catfish, and fried scallops. Art makes his own barbecue sauce, as well as his own cobblers, and pretty much everything else. In warm weather, you can grab a seat outside, and people-watch on Main Street.
