Steaks are average
By woodgaijin on 02/15/2007
The steaks are average to good. But the place is dark, people from the bar stand right next to you when you are eating. I have tried three times and always the results. I prefer the Market Street Steak House, Cattlemans, Logan's and Outback over Jack's.

good food; bad attitude
By augie13mae on 02/12/2007
The place has the best steaks in town, but the owner needs to remember that every person he meets is a potential customer and treating someone badly could cost him customers. In fact, it's already cost him at least 2 in the last year. By acting as a jerk towards a crew of workers that needed to park their service truck near his restaurant--during the time he was NOT open--while they were trying to unload their tools, he has already lost 2 customers and possibly even more. Not that he cares; his restaurant is usually packed anyway.

The Only Place for Steak
By dxrgeo on 01/31/2007
I have been going to Jack's for about 20 years, and consider them an equal to some of the famed steak houses I've been to in Chicago. If trendy frills is what you want, go to Outback or Cattlemans. They are ok, but if a real steak is what you're looking for, and in an adult atmosphere, then the original Jack's Grill is the only place you'll want to go. For the locals, its a nice comfortable place to have a few adult beverages, and you always see old friends there, who all agree that Jack's is the bomb!
