Mainstream dance clubs and bars in Richmond tend to attract Bourbon Street big hair over SoHo sophistication. Such is the case with Catch 22, a New Orleans-themed bar and dance club in the heart of the college bar district called Shockoe Bottom. More Tammy Faye Baker than New York club kid, the clientele at Catch 22 range from drunken college kids to middle-aged divorces. With bikini contents and Ladies' Nights, Catch 22 is the sort of place you'd expect to be a first stop for most bachelor parties and 21st birthdays. Make your way past the bouncers and through the VIP entrance to a bar haloed by neon tubes and a dance floor boasting after-work dance parties. Then, after a couple of grinding sessions of the party floor, you can come up for air on the narrow street-side patio or grab a bite to eat at the connected restaurant. -- Jay Shaylor
