One of the newcomers to the Shockoe Bottom club scene, Have a Nice Day Caf is really trying to make some noise in Richmond. Taking over where The Flood Zone left off, this new nightspot is grabbing a lot of attention by word-of-mouth and on local rock stations. Everyone here is dressed rather sharply (thanks to the dress code of "neat and clean attire and no sandals for men"). This is no grunge or Goth club, but if you crave the upbeat tones of '70s supergroup ABBA, this is the place to be. On Thursday nights they play '80s music, although much of it is the new-wave pop stuff that is still getting played on the radio today, rather than hard-core punk or metal. Since it is Lady's '80s Night, women can get in without the usual $5 cover charge -- you get the picture. In addition to dancing, the cafe sports a pretty extensive bar. -- J.H. Gailey

The place has a very loud stereo . If you're not dancing you can always lean within two inches of someone and have a screaming conversation . The main problem with the place is the location . I'd always try to get out of the place before dark . Otherwise you run the risk of being mugged or gunned down by gang related cross fire . If you're a risk taker looking for a one night stand then this is the place for you .

I've never had a good experience here. I've been kicked out by bouncers for no apparent reason, bouncers at the door took my friend's id, the b**ch at the door charged me 10 for a $7 cover, the list goes on. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone

I've been going here for quite awhile now... only complaint I could have is the temp..it gets SO hot in there..but I feel so comfortable there and always have a good time. ALWAYS!!
