Enter the ornate lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and journey up to the 10th floor to one of the most noted restaurants in the city. The Roof Restaurant is a popular locale for visitors and locals who are celebrating a special occasion or want to experience fine dining in the city. Request one of the tables near the windows for an exquisite view of Temple Square and order long-stem roses or floral arrangements when making your dinner reservations to really impress (many a proposal has occurred at this downtown dining establishment). Open only for dinner, the menu is presented in buffet style featuring gourmet salads, imported and domestic cheeses, cold poached salmon, seasonal veggies, potatoes, prime rib and pit ham, large iced prawns and four hot entrees which vary according to the evening. Alcohol is not served and reservations are highly recommended. Families with children are welcome but the same dinner price currently applies to both kids and adults. -- Amie Leavitt

Love It
By nakrose on 04/09/2007
If only one person is paying for a moderate size group, it can be a little spendy, but well worth it. I love to go on a date with my husband there. It is a great place to rekindle your love.

Organ MD's Review

The view is wonderful, even fantastic at Christmas time. The food is as good as buffet food gets however it is not the fod or servece level of the old Roof or before that the Skyroom. Like I said, A fine buffet. Those who think it expensive, need to get out a bit more. And perhaps the lack of a price for children is managements way of making a subtle statement.

Come on, FINE DINING...just because a room has a view, doesn't mean the food is worth a dime. Calling a BUFFET romantic is a joke. Anyone who considers this great dining should experience a real restaurant, with actual AWARDs of recognition (Desert News, doesn't count, that is just a Bishop telling someone to write something nice or risk a Temple recommend!)
