Shrimp wonton soup with clear broth and tender vegetables is a perfect starter at Xiao Li. Everything on the menu is carefully combined to let the flavor come through without complication. Choose from a menu of favorites including ginger chicken, beef with black bean sauce and moo shu pork. Vegetarian entrees include green beans Szechwan-style and mixed vegetables with tofu. A specialty of the menu, the Peking Duck must be ordered a day ahead, but is well worth the effort. Xiao Li also offers scrumptious desserts like fried banana and whipped amaretto with slivered almonds. The atmosphere is lovely, with oriental screens, high-backed wooden chairs and low lighting for romantic dinners. Wooden tables are set against windows on 3rd West so you can watch the traffic and lights of the city at night while dining. Xiao Li is urban Chinese dining without pretense or complexity. -- Mandy M. Jeppsen

None of the other places in town can match Xiao Li for it's combination of excellently prepared food and great service.

Xiao Li Food & Ambience Excellent
By bill123hb on 05/22/2003
Xiao Li will serve most dishes in the traditional manner (without gooey sauce), and the beef and chicken entrees are outstanding. Dumplings were a little starchy but still good. Very good service from a Japanese-American waitress! Xiao Li looks somewhat like a Hong Kong hotel dining room - big and spacious. No linen tablecloths, though. (Laundry is too expensive here?) Reasonable prices, a substantial cut off PFC, and without all the noise. It'll be a regular for me.
