Formerly known as the Mexican disco Planeta Mexico, this revived hotspot still carries on the tradition of being "muy" chic and fashionable. Don't show up unless you are prepared to go stylin'. The men dress suave, the women act cool and the dance music runs the international gamut. Hear everything from classic Latin dance styles like cumbia and merengue to modern Latin rock and pop, delivered to you by means of DJ or live acts. Trance, house and techno are thrown in for good measure, but the ultimate draw is the hot Latin sounds. Weekly highlights include Ladies Nights, College Nights and Classic Saturday Nights. This place packs them in wall-to-wall on weekends and when big acts come to town, so it's good to know you can reserve a VIP table in advance. Also, be prepared to be tempted by more than just the clientele -- the bubbly and first rate Mexican tequilas will catch your eye too. -- A. Onofre

You be the judge.

Go and check Planeta Mexico, give it a try and find out for yourselves if you're going to like it or not, instead of reading good or bad reviews about it. I've heard it's going to be awesome! and that people from other towns and even Mexico are taking the time to visit on opening day. It might be worth trying. PS. Dress nicely.

winds of what?!?!
By papaplaneta on 07/16/2007
This is going to be just another "Planeta San Antonio" which closed in a few months after opening...in my opinion the best was Planeta Mexico (THE ORIGINAL in 1993) and PLANETA BAR RIO which had the longest time at this location. There is no change here and this place will never be the same...even if they do bring back whatever old staff you can find or steal staff from other clubs which they are obviously trying to do - and from what has been said there will be a bunch of crooks and mafia running this place now...even your 50-year old DJ will not be able to keep up with young DJs because he is just old and can't even afford his own equipment....please give it a rest. This place doens't stand a chance....not anymore!!

NOT so nice :)

The owners were real nice huh? Perhaps the Mexican Mafia were impressed that you stopped in. Oh yes I know the area unfortunately it's considered part of the medical district. Now you need to go to bed so you and your family can get up early to poor concrete for my new pool. After all, your each getting paid a quarter an hour. :)

i drove by and the new owners were really nice and showed me the place, it really looks awesome! i can't wait to for it to re-open. the person with the housing comment seems to know what he's talking about, probably because he lives there :^)... P.S to the guy with the housing: the owners seem REALLY cool and if you ask, they may accept your loanstar card too!... :^))
