Durty Nelly's would be a favorite even if it weren't located on the busy River Walk downtown. The meritorious bar is popular just because it's plain ol' fun to be here. A selection of fine taps, a disregard for table manners, and a joke-telling, request-taking piano player make for a jolly good time. Situated on the lower level of the Hilton Hotel, Durty Nelly's opened its doors in 1974. It was fashioned after an Irish tavern that dates back to the 1600s. Like its Old World counterpart, inside you'll find a fireplace, Irish memorabilia and an endless supply of peanuts that pair up well with a mug of Guinness and a rendition of 'O Danny Boy.' Come on weekends if you're immune to hefty crowds and if you enjoy the bonding that often goes with beer drinking and Irish songs.
