El Chaparral Mexican Rstrnt   

I ate at the new El Chaparral this evening and I was blown away. The tortillas were fresh as always, and Natalias Enchiladas were expecially tasty! The service was great, I never had an empty glass or basket of chips. I do wish they had some kind of sports promotion for the Cowboys and Spurs games. I would love to enjoy the game and a few beers and margaritas out on the patio for a discount! Overall they get 2 thumbs up! Parking is a little challenging, but I heard they have valet now on the weekends. I will definitely be coming back here soon.

I love LOVE love this place...I continue to be impressed with the flavors and service at El Chaparral. The new location is awesome! My favorite is still the classic Helotes location, I ordered the Maria's Enchiladas, they are different, but very tasty, and the bean soup is a must! The wait staff is very attentive, even on a packed night, the woman with the ponytail, a manager, still came by to check on the food and service! This is one loyal customer that will keep on coming!

We frequent El Chaparral every Saturday morning...but no more! Food is good, not great, but good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Over the last few months the service has been getting worst and worst. Last Saturday we arrived a little before 10 AM..after many complaints to the waiter (who seemed indifferent, "It's not my fault" attitude), we asked to speak with the manager (we were told the owner was not in)...it took the manager 15 minutes to come see us. Then she was indifferent, cocky, and didn't seem to care that we had been there over an hour and were not served yet. Her attitude was that she had a problem in the kitchen and we would get out food soon enought! At 1.5 hours after we got there, there was still no food. We walked out. Don't waste your time there, there are way too many good Mexican restaurants in the San Antonio area where you don't have to put up with bad service.

NEW LOCATION 1604 AND 281 IS GREAT. LOVE THE VALERIES SPECIAL. GREAT SERVICE TOO.
