Named after the famous Italian opera house, La Scala has served up fine European style dining on the north side of San Antonio since the '80s. Offering a private dining room, the restaurant is ideal for wedding rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties and other special occasions. The romantic atmosphere also makes for a great date spot. Popular menu items include French-cut lamb chops, snapper "la scala" with butter sauce and stuffed crab meat, and the most popular dessert -- the apple torte with amaretto biscotti crumbs on top, which is the only dessert made in-house. The menu steers clear of Americanized Italian fare and sticks closer to the authentic European style. The decor is spacious and doesn't overemphasize the fact that it is an Italian restaurant. Luncheon specials bring a considerable crowd, so consider takeout if you're in a rush. -- Vanessa Smith

Excellent
By Msd5353 on 07/25/2008
My wife and I celebrated her birthday at La Scala and were not dissappointed. The steaks were excellent and the waiter top notch. We had not been there in a while but will for sure go back. We had a great shrimp appetizer and a very good cheese cake for dessert. Overall a great dining experience and worth the price

Pleasant Atmosphere--That's About It
By Ronsell on 07/02/2008
Pleasant, quiet atmosphere, but bland and boring entrees (same menu for years). Service is hit-and-miss. Popular with the Town Car and Cadillac crowd (aka "Blue Hairs").

European dining at it's greatest in Texas
By PLMikush on 06/17/2008
I have spent many years traveling through France, Germany, Italy and the British Iles to the tune of over two hundred crossings, and find LaScala to be a pleasent reminder of that part of the world where you are treated as a valued customer that can do no wrong. For two, ask for table 90 in the far end of the resturant. We go there for every special occasion.
