Located in the Castle Oaks Village Shopping Center, Navarro Mexican Grill & Bar offers traditional Mexican recipes and New World cuisine. Executive chef Alfonso Navarro and his general manager brother Jose bring decades of culinary experience and old-fashioned hospitality to life with fine food served in a relaxed atmosphere. Handmade artwork with mystic undertones, terra-cotta tile flooring and explosively colorful table settings exude Latin culture throughout the eaterys spacious dining room. As for the menu, the brothers Navarro offer entrees largely influenced by their native Jalisco, Mexico. Popular selections include Old Town Western Paella -- a steamy mixture of Mexican rice, Gulf prawns, scallops and sauteed chicken breast fired with garlic, Poblano peppers and other aromatic spices. The topping of cilantro, cool tomatoes and avocado slice then sets the colorful dish off. Tortilla soup, sombrero fajitas and a host of creative enchiladas, burritos and salads round out the extensive menu. Breakfast -- American and Mexican styles -- is served daily.
