The Rivercenter Mall has more to offer than just designer duds and ogling tourists. Follow the sound of laughter and you'll discover just what that is. Known by locals mostly for Oxymorons, its beloved improvisational comedy troupe, Rivercenter Comedy Club features big-name touring acts such as Chris Rock, Pauly Shore and Drew Carey, as well as local talent seven nights a week. On Saturday nights, After Midnight Madness is the show to see. Starting at 12:30AM, local comics take the stage for a free open-mic uproarious rendezvous targeted for an adult audience. And, if you find all the laughing has caused you to work up an appetite, don't despair -- there's a full-service kitchen and bar serving everything from steaks to quesadillas. Rivercenter Comedy Club is also home to the Annual Latino Laugh Festival. -- Kelly Lee

If you are a fan of the Rivercenter Comedy Club you might know Miguel Lorenzo. He is a comic that's been at the club for over 6 years. He does a great impression of Arnold in a Box. Well, he passed away on March 22, 2005. There will be a benefit show held at the Rivercenter Comedy Club (210-229-1420) on April 4th at 8:30 PM. Miguel's comedy CD will be sold at the show. All sales from tickets and CDs will be donated to Miguel's family and his scholarship fund. Thanks. http://miguellorenzo.kyndzoffuzion.com

My girlfriends and I chose to spend the evening celebrating a birthday by taking in a show at the River Center Comedy Club. We had a blast. The headliner was J R and he was right on the money with every breath he took! Steve and the guys working there were personable and Jill, our waitress, was wonderful. She made the birthday party that much better by her solicitous attention. However, we are getting another group together to see Rodney Carrington and we have some issues with the difficulty of group seating. I think a revision of club policy deems necessary, business-wise as well as it just being the right thing to do.
