What was once a cowboy saloon-inspired bar has gradually dissolved into a regular ol' gay pub, but the Silver Dollar is still a notable stopping point on the North Main circuit. Maybe it's because it's been around for so long, or maybe it's because it's an appendage to two other venues -- the Silver Dollar Saloon has a clientele that returns again and again. Though it's straight-friendly and lesbian-friendly, gay men are what you'll find when you get here. Men in tight jeans nuzzling each other over a cold one is the usual scene, and if that's not your shot of choice, maybe the drink specials and laid-back atmosphere will do it for you.

You can't breathe in here and its NOT a country bar anymore
I was looking for a country bar and I thought with a name like "Silver Dollar Saloon" that this would be a good bet. I was wrong.
The staff seems friendly, but the bar has NO ventilation and the cigarette smoke is heavy and for non-smokers like me it was impossible to stay in there for more than 20 minutes.
They were playing strictly spanish latin music. No Country music at all. They need to change the name of the bar...it is misleading.
I heard that years ago it was a good place, but as a new resident of Texas I will not go back. Very disappointing and a guarantee of cancer from breathing 2nd hand smoke.
What Happened?
Well I go into this place and first of all it stinks, the maneger is drunk and wobling so he gets kicked out of his own bar, and then he trys to come back in so they kicked him out again.
They Play hip hop music and this country bar ????????

What Cowboy music?
There is nothing Cowboy about this place, at all.
The only thing missing from this bordertown junkyard is the cockfights on the dirt floors.
