Fans of Harmon's Barbecue no longer have to drive to the original location in Cibolo for that finger-lickin' good brisket, chicken and sausage. Downtown San Antonio's Alamo Plaza has a Harmons location to call its own. Across the street from Dillard's department store and within sight of the world-famous Alamo shrine, Harmon's basement location offers modest prices and an all-you-can eat sides bar. Tourists in route to the River Walk or The Alamo during lunch or dinnertime may want to drop in here. Conventioneers from nearby Gonzalez Convention Center may also find Harmon's to be a convenient pit stop. As you descend the steps to the basement restaurant, take a look at the menu board. You can opt for one of Harmons daily specials that range from $7.75-$8.75 and include the sides bar with its beans, potato salad, cole slaw, green beans and cream corn. Colorful faux-window dressings and wall-mounted flat screen TVs pump a little life into the basement atmosphere. When the 'cue is history and your sweet tooth kicks in, finish off your visit with a taste of peach cobbler, pecan pie or ice cream.
