When Big Lou's Pizza moved to a larger location in December 2004, some thought its larger dining area and bigger kitchen would create significantly shorter wait times for its customers. However, when you consistently serve up what some pizza lovers consider to be among the city's best pizza, mouth-watering anticipation is often part of the dining experience. Weekend customers of Big Lou's at times wait a couple of hours for one of its popular pies. Of course, Big Lou's regulars find ways around thls. Ordering ahead by phone is one of them. For large parties, Big Lou's offers a mammoth 37'' pie. Because the average exterior doorway width is only 36 inches, this menu item presents a problem. (Can you say "dine-in only," boys and girls?) There are also pizza wraps and a limited selection of pasta that includes lasagna. Its friendly atmosphere is very much part of the Big Lou's experience. Inside you'll find the warmth of wood paneling, quirky artwork and flat screen TV monitors on the walls. The restaurant's owners often acknowledge regular guests by name and are not above stepping out of the kitchen to chat up the hungry masses. You can finish off your meal with a refreshing margarita, beer or mixed drink.

Not the most amazing food around, but few top the atmosphere.
By Arsonist Omar on 08/26/2008
If you're a pizza-lover coming to Big Lou's and expecting the pest pizza you've ever had, you may want to try somewhere else. But if you're the kind of person who loves pizza and loves to party, I'd recommend no place more than Big Lou's. A good friend of mine introduced me to Lou's last summer, when he had a birthday party there. I had heard of the place, but never stepped inside. When I saw the 37-inch behemoth of a pizza that was laid before me, I knew I was about to have a great time. The atmosphere is friendly a noisy, the way any great party place would be. Though the space is a bit cramped, Big Lou's makes up for itself with great food and a fun place to be. The food is not the most memorable, though it still is great. The hot wings are nothing short of amazing, with a great kick in the sauce. The pizza is great, being loaded with so much sauce, cheese, and toppings that it falls off the crust. If you're a habitually clean eater, you definitely need to stay away. But if you don't mind some mess with your food, Big Lou's is where it's at. All in all, Big Lou's is a place with great food, friendly people, and is an all-around fun place. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who wants a cool place to chill on the weekends.

Hands down good................

I've been to pizza places all over the country, this is the best pizza in SA hands down. With the exception of a few rather rude employees, it is a can't miss pizza experience.
