Broadway 50 50   

An Alamo Heights staple for many years now, the Broadway 50/50 (named after its address of 5050 Broadway) attracts everyone from college kids to businesspeople and socialites -- you may even see the occasional biker or cowboy. The atmosphere is highly eclectic, with '50s-style diner booths, wood paneling and walls decorated with taxidermy and framed photos and memorabilia from Alamo Heights high school. Food ranges from snacks such as nachos and fries to a variety of hamburgers. There is a full bar and a happy hour every day from 4-7PM. Game seekers can play pool or shuffleboard, or they can take the less active route and watch sports on the big screen TV. Late at night, the 50/50 has almost a nightspot feel as the crowd packs it in, but it is more reserved and less populated during the day. -- Vanessa Smith
