In the food and entertainment business, the phrase ''we offer something for everyone'' is often an overstatement. However, when you describe The Cove, it may actually be an injustice to omit the cliche. After all, how many restaurants do you know that offer not only food, beer and wine but an ice cream parlor, basketball hoop, playscape for the kids, a laundry and a car wash? Without a doubt, The Cove puts the ''e'' in eclectic dining. With its covered outdoor seating and ceiling fans to induce a breeze here and there, The Cove also becomes a preferred location to experience live music from folk to country to jazz on Fridays and Saturdays. On its menu, there are weekday lunch specials that include gourmet burgers or spicy Cajun chicken with fries and a drink as well as a colorful and tasty grilled chicken spinach salad with mushrooms, pecans and The Cove's own honey mustard dressing. Among the eclectic eatery's most popular choices is its California-style fish taco -- grilled Tilapia with cilantro coleslaw, a spicy poblano cream sauce on a crisp corn tortilla. The grilled shrimp taco with slaw, avocado and potentially sinus-searing wasabi cream is also a Cove favorite. You can chase your chosen munchies with a frozen margarita, sangria or any of the more than 50 domestic and import beers available. Long live The Cove.

Another "true San Antonio" venue
By CJCraig70 on 07/06/2008
Another venue unique to S.A., one that attracts an interesting mix of all walks of life. On any given weekend night here, you're likely to hear anything from heavy metal, to jazz, to christian rock, to blues, to bands comprised of junior high kids playing classic rock covers designated by their parents....families bring their kids here as there is a basketball court and playground outside of the music and restaurant area. The food is great, the staff ia ALWAYS friendly and talkative and informative about the menu items....wonderful Texas experience here...

amazing

Finally a restaurant in San Antonio concerned with offering top quality food. A healthy alternative to all these corporate run food chains. Did I mention they have over 100 flavors of beer and a great wine selection. I would highly recommend this place to travelers with children who want to take a break from the tourist sites and experience the real San Antonio. They have some of the best live music around and a great area for kids to entertain themselves. I have a feeling it will be much busier once their Food Network episode airs in August `08

Best Organized Voting Efforts
By alrindfuss on 02/02/2007
The sad truth about The Cove is this: It is not the best anything in San Antonio. And I have no ax to grind with them, either--I'm not a disgruntled former employee or industry competitor of any kind. I'm just some guy who's been there (several times) because of the Trojan "best of" victories they engineer every year, which (constructive criticism for you guys when your people bring this to your attention) might actually be backfiring when people (like me) show up expecting something better than the place really has to offer. For reference, check out this link to the Current's article on the subject: http://www.zwire.com/site/index.cfm?newsid=14324420&BRD=2318&PAG=461&dept_id=484045&rfi=8

Unique One-Of-A-Kind Scene!
By jockmou on 01/30/2007
Great Place! Not only can you wash your car and clothes while sipping one of more than 75 beers, but the food is awesome! Sam and Lisa are dedicated to the local music scene and one can hear anything from Jazz, blues to roots rock and folk. Highly recommended for anyone looking for the true San Antonio spirit.... -Sal DiGiacomo
