How many restaurants do you know that can offer tasty and nutritional food as well as double as a place of worship? Add Joseph's Storehouse Baking Company to your short list. Since 1992, Joseph's Storehouse has offered wholesome baked goods, soups, salads and sandwiches Monday through Saturday. However, on Sunday mornings praise shifts from the Joseph's food to the divine when the restaurant becomes a center of non-denominational worship. In fact, the eatery derives its name from the Biblical personality who provided food during a time of famine. Joseph's eclectic decor features wood furnishings and, in the words of owner operator Patrick McCurdy, ''a conglomeration of kitchen stuff.'' (It is a bakery, too.) Popular menu choices include Joseph's Chicken Salad Plate, the baked potato and tomato basil soups, chicken pot pie and quiche. Well over a dozen sandwiches served on the bakery's fresh bread are available. Hot casseroles like lasagna, chicken enchilada and King Ranch can serve up to 12 people. From the dessert menu, you could hardly go wrong with much-sought-after banana pudding, carrot cake or the far-from-decadent-but-thankfully-in-the-neighborhood chocolate fudge cake. Ahhh, yes.
