Boasting solid granite walls, the coming-of-age basement known as Boudro's is grotto-like in appearance. Wooden tables, primary colors and primitive iron artwork supply it with a welcoming coziness for you first daters. On any given night, you'll find the umbrella-covered, riverside tables packed with diners. Inside this busy bistro eatery, you'll discover why tourists, conventioneers and locals alike are quick to reserve a coveted Boudro's table. On any given afternoon, white-collar workers strike deals during lunch. Fusing culinary influences from Mexico, east Texas, Louisiana and the Germanic Texas Hill Country, this busy restaurant serves exceptionally tasty cuisine that remains uniquely American. Signature dishes include mesquite-grilled Texas quail with vegetables and roasted potatoes as well as blackened prime rib with Boudreaux butter. Gulf seafood and Texas beef also abound in generous portions. Order a refreshing Prickly Pear Cactus Margarita or, if you've got some extra cash, enjoy one of the many fine wines from Boudro's sizeable cellar.

Went to Boudro's for a couple of drinks on a Sunday night and were blown away!! We ordered the guacamole for two (which they make table-side) and it was heavenly! So good in fact that we ordered a second batch to be made after we scarfed down the first one!! Prickly pear margarita is a MUST HAVE and goes perfectly with the chips and guacamole. nice location for quiet conversation and people watching.

First time in SA and this was our favorite of the restaurants. All the reviews (Frommers, Southern Living, this site, etc.) talk about the fresh guacamole salad. Well, they should, because it is incredible. The crab tostada was great for lunch, and the prickly pear margaritas were certainly a lunchtime treat. Highly recommend. If back in SA, it will first on our list.
