In a post-Katrina world, people have come to realize how precious New Orleans party culture is: the outrageous apparel, the sickly sweet hurricanes (of the alcoholic variety), the beads -- and the boys. Fortunately, San Diego has its very own avenue of ill repute with Bourbon Street, Hillcrest's long-standing parish saturated with Southern sugar. The bar attracts attractive men of all ages by offering an awesome assortment of (French) quarters for sipping and socialization. Each is evocative of the Big Easy, though none more than the striking Front Bar, dim, fancy and architecturally awe-inspiring with iron embellishments and a stage for special events. Lovers may lounge in the Stable Bar, which is chic enough to betray its name, or enjoy sunlight and moonlight both in the alfresco Patio Bar, divine with flowering shrubs. Players can flex their game in a room brimming with darts, video games and a pool table. Plasma screens are suspended throughout, keeping revelers entertained with movies and drag videos. Drink prices seem astoundingly low. During happy hour, martinis are $2 Monday through Wednesday, and $3 Thursday through Saturday, including savory selections like the Dirty Girl Scout (vodka, coffee liqueur, creme de menthe and Irish cream) and the Pumpkin Pie (coffee liqueur, Irish cream and cinnamon Schnapps).

This is a hard place to rate...the venue is terrific, maybe the best in SD but the service is a complete mixed bag. A few of the bartenders fall over themselves to make sure everyone on their bar is happy and a few should be working at the makeup counter at Kmart. (I'm a guy and I elbow my way to the female bartenders 'cause they have less attitude)
