Although the downtown party scene in Gaslamp might be San Diego's choice location for the urban set, the kicked-back, pedestrian-friendly world of Pacific Beach has plenty of say for it. High on the beach town's list of assets is the Pacific Beach Bar and Grill, which for years has entertained beachgoers and bar-hoppers under a retractable roof that lets in the salty air coming off waves just a block away. There are more than 20 beers on tap, so those looking for something besides Bud will be happy, and plenty of TV screens. Even smokers get some love, courtesy of the outdoor patio. That's just the beginning. The lunch and dinner menu boasts the usual beach-bum grill faves -- burgers, sandwiches, Mexican food and a mountainous plate of fries --while the post-hangover crowd dries out with an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on Sundays. Chances are those groggy partiers spent the night before at the adjacent so they know the drill. Finding a table might be tough on weekends, but the crowd here is part of the appeal.

Who is the chef??

Service is below average. Seems like they have new people every week. Used to be much better when they had regular waitresses... The menu seems to be ever-increasing. The chef has come up with all kinds of new options that you'd never expect from a beach bar n grill. Bargain pricing too! Great place for some cheap eats if you can deal with service that keeps getting worse.

PB B&G used to be a great place to hang out, but lately, it's gone downhill and become a dump. The staff is great and the drink specials are great, but the clientel and and atmosphere have really deteriorated. The back club almost always smells like a locker room, and without a dress code, any bum off the street can get in the door. Best advice is to go for happy hour and food, and beat feet somewhere else before all the out of towners show up.

Been going their for years, and things have improved.Good happy hour prices and decent bar food. The women are awesome and a big dance floor. Get their by 8 PM to find a table or forget it. NTN trivia is fun and golden tee golf is fun too.Thursday is college night and all the hot Asian co-eds hit the scene.
