Housed in a 1920s bank building, the Courtyard by Marriot is located downtown and within walking distance to the city's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Renovated in 1999, the hotel's rooms are bright and spacious and all offer data ports, built-in hair dryers and full-sized irons and ironing boards. The Marriot caters to business travelers with over 4500 square feet of conference room space. For small meetings, try the Safe Deposit Room housed in the original '20s bank vault. The hotel has a bar and a caf, but try the Gaslamp for every kind of ethnic food imaginable. -- A.H. Campen
