A convivial gathering place for singles and couples, Karl Strauss features a hearty American grill menu with a variety of steaks, sandwiches, pizzas and more. This is a brewery, of course, and savvy sorts are here for the beer: Amber Lager, Red Trolley Ale, Star of India Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout are always on the menu. Seasonal brews are offered as well. The Sorrento Mesa location offers some of the city's best outdoor dining. If you can get a patio table, you'll get to enjoy the lush Japanese gardens and koi pond.
