Trattoria La Strada has, since its origin, been identified as the finest authentic Italian restaurant in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Surrounded by both Horton Plaza and the San Diego Convention Center, the restaurant proved to be an instant success and quickly distinguished itself for its unique Northern Italian cuisine and innovative d?cor, making one's dining experience a memorable one. La Strada has become a favorite of San Diego's locals and tourists to the downtown area who enjoy fine food and excellent service. Since it's inception, the cuisine has evolved to its present high standard of quality, consistency and innovation. Our menu is based on authentic Tuscan tradition updated by the unique culinary design of our chef, Mr. Bernardoni. European service by a knowledgeable staff, historic location, beautiful d?cor and great food make dining at Trattoria La Strada a "gastronomic experience."

Excellent service, great food! The waitress was very candid about which dishes did not receive the best feedback. The restaurant was very cozy and elegant.

BAD BAD BAD!
By ontwodog on 12/21/2005
The food BOTh two times that my boyfriend & I went was really bad! The first time we had the worst waitress, she forgot a lot of things, did not pay good attention to us, and LITERALLY the food took two hours after ordering. There were only four tables of 2-4 people total inside & out. The couple behind us came in after had an appetizer and dinner (as did we) but also both had desert & were out before we got our meals. The same went for the table next to us & the couple after them got there meals right before us. This was RIDICULOUS. We were totally astonished at how bad the food was once it came. I took one bite and my boyfrriend took just a few more of his. The waitress never asked if there was a problem or if we were satisfied. We spent almost $200 there & my boyfriend still tipped 20% for the worst service of our lives. We said we were going to tell our friends to BEWARE & don't waste there precious time or money. Then it was his Birthday & he just got a new job. We looked online for the BEST Italian food restaurant to celebrate! We were devastated when we pulled up to see it was the one we had a HORRIBLE experience at. We didn't want to cancel because it was Friday evening & we were all dressed up. We are very resonable people, not snobs at all so we thought it deserved a second chance. We sat inside this time & got an excellent waiter. That was all that was excellent. The cheese plate appetizer tasted like it was straight from the dollar grocery store (I know because I shop there) Then we decided to get one of the most costly lobster plates figuring then it HAD to be good. IT WAS SOOOO BAD!!! We did not eat much at all & tipped well for good service. We would never go back there & I we are completly baffled at the good ratings. Honestly I know a placed in Point Loma with much better food, excellent service, and better deals - Olive Garden!! I am not even kidding. It is dissappointing and we will never recommend this restaurant to any one that we like!

This place was awful!! We stopped on the sidewalk to look over the menu and saw all of the awards it had won and it looked like a nice place to have dinner. While on vacation we ate here and paid way to much for what we got. I ordered prawns and the person I was with ordered fillet mignon and the only reason we finished it was because we felt so bad about spending so much. We left this establishment so disgusted. I would highly recommend against eatting at this place!!
