From the patio and dining room of Brockton Villa, diners have a panoramic view that spans La Jolla Cove and up the coast toward (on a clear day) Orange County. The magical setting is accentuated by the charming California-style bungalow, which dates back to the 1800s and is listed as a historical building. It is especially lovely at night with strung lights twinkling in the trees and the moon reflecting off the sea. Constantly winning local awards for their food, the Villa is hard to pin down on any particular type of cuisine category. Breakfast is always a favorite, especially on weekends, when the creamy, custardy French toast's orange essence perfectly offsets the morning sea breeze. Dinner makes a perfect date-night event, when seafood takes center stage with steamed mussels, crab cakes, California seafood stew, Moroccan halibut or the Villa Paella with a lobster tomato broth.
