Pizza Port-Solana Beach Brwry   

A brother and sister teamed up in 1987 to open a little pizza place where they could have some fun and sell some of their homemade porters. As in so many success stories, they never dreamed they would become such a beloved local attraction. These days, Pizza Port ("port" as in porter-style beer) is still serving up little slices of heaven, or the whole pie if you have room, along with a fabulous and extensive beer selection. Each location has its own house-brewed drafts designed by the resident brewmeister. Seasonal swills such as Santa's Little Helper go fast, and year-round grogs like Cardiff Cream are as favored as the local spots for which they're named. Don't forget the kiddies; they can get root beer floats whipped up with homemade root beer and ice cream. Those of age can order the adult variant: a stout or porter float. Gourmet and classic toppings are tossed onto the pies to complement the fabulous sauce, New York-style thin crust and mozzarella that's never too greasy, making for some of the county's best pizza. Surfboards and park benches grace the interior of the hangout, which serves as an after-work watering hole for a host of regulars. In the early evenings, many come in just for beers and conversation.
