Rate and Write a Review The crowded neighborhood of Sherman Heights sprawls around this Victorian house turned museum. When it was built in 1887 it was the only house for miles with a spanning view of the Pacific Ocean. It was constructed for the musician and author Jesse Shepard but he ended up leaving shortly after its completion. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has been repainted and repaired to best emulate the original appearance. Victorian houses are a sight to see since houses these days aren't constructed with nearly as much artistry or craftsmanship. The stained-glass windows and redwood shingles along with the onion dome tower add to the exterior charm. Inside, knowledgeable tour guides will greet you with the history of the owner and house as well as interesting tid-bits about San Diego before the turn of the century. The garden is also a sight and a popular spot for intimate weddings and parties.
