In ShortBenihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

chefs good, parking bad!!

I really like how the chefs work with the food, and the food is very tasty, but the parking is terrible and they need a better location definately. I think that this place is only great when you have a lot of people you know sitting with you, otherwise its awkward sitting with strangers.

Going Downhill

We were celebrating a family event with dinner here. Right from the beginning it was downhill. Only 2 rows of parking in the entire parking lot was available for non-valet and they were all take - some by valet parked cars. Of course there were at least 50 empty spaces in "valet areas". We asked the Manager about this and was given a series of excuses - none of which seemed plausible. Well, maybe dinner would make it all right - NOT. Expecting the type of "culinary entertainment" we expected, our "chef" was little better than a Denny's cook....and the food bordered on bland (the soup and salad if less so). The only eye-popping thing about the whole affair was the total for the bill!! Won't be going back there again!

good people,cooks are professional and entertaining, I'd reccommend it in a heart beat.

Food here was good but a little on the expensive side. It is extremely busy on the weekends.
