Find more than 50 wines by the glass at this charming Hillcrest wine bar/restaurant, with prices starting at a reasonable $5 a pop. Selections ranging from heavy ports to lighter sauvignon blancs are designed to delight and educate the palate; thankfully, the knowledgeable staff keeps the I'm-smarter-than-you-are vibe to a minimum. If you're trying to hone in on a particular taste, indulge in a "flight" -- a selection of three wines of related persuasion for the eminently affordable fee of $7-$10. Those who prefer mixed drinks can order up festive concoctions, and a decent selection of beers is on tap. The decor is classy, and the menu offers entrees that lend themselves to being paired with various wines; decadent desserts and savory starters are also available (the late-night appetizer menu is available until midnight every night). The crowd tends to skew slightly older than your average Hillcrest hotspot, and for those who prefer not to scream while having a conversation, crush is a great late-night spot as well as early-evening sanctuary. Sunday brunch is offered every week from 10AM-3PM.
