Jake's Del Mar   

I took a really good friend to Jake's on a weeknight, and was very impressed with the whole experience... great food, great service, spectacular view. Beyond limited parking, Jake's Del Mar is worth every penny.

I have been dining at Jakes since 1990 and it is my favorite place to take out of town guests because of the view (right on the water) and the great food and service. Some things have changed over the years but for consistency, they can't be beat! I have tried many dishes but absolutely love the Seafood Provencal. The salad are all good and you will have a hard time picking which dessert to order. I recommend reservations but unless things have changed, they usually save a portion of the restaurant for walk-ins. The last time we were there, the hostess seated someone that was a friend of the bartenders before those of us waiting for our reserved table but I will forgive them this once...

We live in the Del Mar area, and whenever we have the chance..we dinner/lunch @ Jakes! The service is fantastic, and you can always count on feeling like a "regular" with the warm greeting from the host station. The food is consistantly superb...whether you want just appetizers (Pokey rolls and Calimari YUMMY), schmooz at the very fun and friendly bar, or enjoy dining and views beyond belief, Jakes is the place! If we take the kids, no evening is complete with out a walk on the beach after coffee and dessert! A must for singles, married and families!

From the time the valet comes to greet you , till the time when you are finishing up the last drop of coffee , Jakes is the place to go . I recently took my wife there for our anniversary an neither of have ever been there. After this night, we are sure to return many times over. I suggest arriving early as to get parking, though it is limited; anyway , We had appetizers at the bar, I suggest the calamari, From the time you walk though the doors you are greeted with smiles in a very professional manner. No itimidation felt. bartenders are very friendly yet not overbearing and always reponsive to each of their customers. Dinner , server very friendly always attentive yet lets one enjoy the meal. All in all for a wonderful and enjoyable night spend it at Jake's. Oh yes prices are very affordable. Total bill for the night was just a lil' over 100.00.
