Ki's Restaurant   

The surfers and beach-goers around Cardiff know that if you're going to be wearing a swimsuit a lot, you'd better be eating right. Ki's has been supporting the heart-and-body-conscious locals since 1980, when it was more of a juice bar and grocery stand. Nowadays, the full-fledged restaurant is a prime stop for people coming off the shore across the street, bicyclists on weekend rides and even office workers on a lunch break. The tofu scramble is an ideal morning starter, while everything from smoothies and juices to sandwiches and sizeable salads gets you through the mid-day munchies. Dinner entrees impress, with the flavor pulled out of such low-fat dishes as salmon fajitas, grilled tempeh with avocado, pan-seared herbed chicken with polenta or butternut squash and corn enchiladas. The second story sports a comfy dining room and a patio that's wonderful for catching the sea air and the last golden rays of sun setting over the Pacific.
