The front room, right off Adams, is airy and bright, its green-tiled floor glowing in the light that pours through the front glass walls. In this room, every night, somebody worth listening to plays live music. Large comfy chairs, chaise-lounges, Victorian sofas and snazzy old tables and buffets are placed throughout Lestat's like a group of eccentric deceased relatives back to haunt the place. But it's no use; even the two stone gargoyles atop the roof of the beloved coffeehouse can't do anything but seem benevolent. There's a furnished reading alcove for those who'd like to curl up and continue fantasizing that they live here. Towards the back is a kitchen serving baked goods, soups, sandwiches and goodness knows what all. Many exotic teas and coffees are also to be had, of course. Past this kitchen, in the back, you'll find Lestat's prize secret: a lush outdoor patio area with a towering brick wall (actually the side of an adjacent building) giving the space the right touch of Old South gravity.

I lived here no joke!
By SparkleSmurfSD on 07/21/2008
I lived 1 block away and ate my lunch and sometimes dinner here not bad food I could walk there too. I paid like $7.50 for the best meal I have had at any sandwich place! I been to all major company run places and even that place in hill crest by rite aid THE BEST food, coffee, baristas (go teach Starbucks a thing or two please!) and service is awesome too. They seem scary but say hi they done bite and are some of the best people I ever met. If you enjoy live music check out their place next door even open mic night and other neat events, http://www.lestats.com/ is their web site too. Seriously best place in SD for a cup oh joe or a meal.
