Over hyped and over priced
By stetty411 on 01/05/2006
People seem to get caught in the hype when it comes to the Marine Room. Both the food and view are very good. The restaurant itself is in dire need of a remodel inside and the service is stuffy and unimpressive. We are originally from NYC and used to high prices for food; this place sets the price bar even higher. You feel like you are being robbed when the check comes. If you have traveled a bit or are under 65, this is a difficult pill to swallow. Might be ok for old people that are from the midwest (or an area that doesn't have good food and atmosphere already): visiting San Diego and needs a view and a good meal. For this, Mister A's blows the Marine Room away on all counts and has excellent service and nice atmosphere to boot. I say pass, too many other good places to go in SD...

Just a wonderful time
By otamobile on 12/22/2005
I have to say,...this place is not only historic of what service and La Jolla is all about, the food is spectacular. It should be tiresome to hear someone remark if it's expensive or not, this is an upper crust restaurant, and the service is unique. You have a head waiter, etc. and all your needs are met immediately. I was taken out for dinner from my company, and I have to say, this was my first visit, and not my last. The appetizers, amazing, the food, wonderful, the desserts....a must! I was very impressed

Crashing Waves
By mermaid92117 on 06/23/2005
While pricey, no place else beats the combination of outstanding food and setting. Last night was a beautiful sunset, which we enjoyed from the bar. Later, the very high tide had waves crashing on the windows -- nothing like it anywhere in San Diego! All the food we had was exceptional, and the lobster tail on the lobster trio appetizer was the best I have EVER had!

better days

Food awsome, but the waiter farted loudly, twice. When we left, the manager wished us a good evening, and also farted. I guess it was a bad night for food sharing in the kitchen. I think it was old garlic. The bathroom had the same smell. We'll still go back.
