If you think Indian food is all curries and rice, think again. Monsoon, sister restaurant to Bombay in Hillcrest, features so many different delicacies from the sub continent that you could get swept away by the flood of choices. Start off with samosas (fried potato pastries) or one of the hearty soups. Even this restaurant has jumped on the lettuce wrap bandwagon, with chicken and tofu versions. For lunch, try the buffet (only served Monday nights) with its upscale assortment of curries, naan, meat dishes and desserts. Seafood is a prime ticket, and rarely tried or even seen at most Indian places. The halibut is baked in a yogurt sauce with ground garlic and coriander. Water plays a big part in the elegant ambiance, with a room-dividing waterfall. Great decor and wonderful eating -- that's sitar music to an Indian food lover's ears.

Terrible Service

Horrible service on a Saturday night. Long wait (not just me), waiter forgot items and so-so food. If this is the best Indian food in San Diego, try something else.

Great Food and Great Service. Raul made our night. We had tried Bombay the week before and our server had told us to try monsoon: the downtown location. I am addicted to their food :)
