You can find one of the finest ocean views in the San Diego area at Pacifica del Mar. A fine dining establishment deserving of the name, they pay attention to every detail, from the attentive servers to the accent lighting. Bring people that you want to impress, whether out-of-towners or a special date. Their motto is "seafood is our passion," so as might be expected, the seafood bistro bar is not to be missed. Other standouts are the Japanese clam chowder and the barbecued sugar-spiced salmon. Also to be expected, dining here involves high-ticket plates, so if you're interested in less glamour but the same level of quality, opt for the sister restaurant, Pacifica Breeze Cafe, downstairs. For such an upscale restaurant, their happy hour yields some surprisingly good deals, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays, when it goes all night.

I have been to Pacifica several times over a number of years and it is one of the best and most consiistent restaurants I have ever been to. The food is creative, fresh and always high quality - I especially like the halibut. The bar is fun and great for people watching.

Service and Food were AWFUL
By crystaldiana1214 on 07/31/2006
We just tried this place for the first time 7/30 and it was one of the worst places that we have eaten in a long time. Our server was awful. She checked on tables all around us but never once checked on us even after I tried everything short of throwing food at her. I finally had to ask another waiter if he could refill my ice tea and bring me more sauce for my DRY food. He brought me the ice tea and said that he told my waitress about the sauce. After 15 minutes, I went in to look for her but couldn't find her so then I asked the hostess to ask her to visit our table. When she got there, she didn't even apologize. I again asked for the sauce. She didn't notice that our drinks were dry again. For the price that you pay, you would think that the food would be either good or that you would get good service but we got neither. It was very dissapointing.
