Love the place
By sassafrass760 on 08/01/2007
I adore the menu choices (being a vegetarian) and have never had a problem with the service. Sometimes it takes a while to get your food; it's not a place to eat at if you're in a hurry. When I'm there, I'm always with friends so none of us have any problems with eating two bowls of chips while talking. A friend of mine introduced me to the place and I love the food and the people. I've always had very nice guys as servers and they tend to make the meal that much better. The women tend to not be as fun. It's pretty laid back so if you want five-star service and walk in expecting it, you won't get it. And don't wait for someone to bring you a check, just head to the counter.

Assault on Child
By kelvisandersen on 02/26/2007
It is appalling and very disturbing that nothing has been said or done about it. No child should be treated in this manner regardless of age, behavior and most of all if they have any sort of disability. The treatment this family received who were from out of town makes all of San Diego look bad, it's restaurants, servers, police staff and everyone. The waitress or the manager to date have had nothing happen to them other than to think its a big joke. If she would have put her hands on my child I am sure that it would have made front page news after I got done with her.

Waitress assaults child
By carolinacalkins on 02/24/2007
I am a member of an on-line group for parents of children with special needs, and I am writing on behalf of one of our members. One of the waitresses went absolutely ballistic with a young autistic boy because he was taking more time to order than she thought was necessary. She put her hands on him and shook him and screamed into his ear. Then she refused to wait on the entire family. The manager supported her and told the family that they should go elsewhere if they have an autistic child. I am hoping that this story gets around and that people think twice about patronizing Pokez Mexican Restaurant in the future. The waitress should have been fired on the spot, charges of assault should have been brought against her, and management should have done everything within its power to have made it right with the family. No apology was forth-coming.

By lealahgirl on 08/11/2006
so i started goin there when i was 15 n loved it,i knew the guy that owns it,we used to kick it after hours the punk kids n shit n we'd have shows, this was like a fun hang out for some of us young kids, this place became popular by word of mouth through the scenesters....around 17 i believe it was this new chick started workin there,i think it was the owners niece or something n she was extremely rude to me that i swore id never go back(n i used to eat there like 3 times max every wk n was obsessed with their veggi tacos)anyways,im a waitress now n i just cant understand how someone can be so unpolite n work in this field...too bad their food is so good....so sad they suck...8 yrs later n i still havent set foot back there...
