In ShortFrom the colossal fresh floral bouquet that faces guests as they enter to the dripping chandeliers and thematic use of velvety red, everything at the Starlight is opulent. Friendly bartenders pour plenty of cosmos and the club's signature Cable Car--a cinnamon-rimmed brandy libation--is a must-try. A well-heeled crowd takes to the sprawling lounge filled with linen-draped cocktail tables and high-backed banquettes for drinks, or to the dance floor for Top-40 tunes spun by a DJ.

the two faces of a sf treat
By rojocalif on 08/29/2006
Coming from New York City, my friends and I came to San Francisco hoping for a few days of fun, excitement and relaxation. We were surprisingly not disappointed at all. It was such a great 5 days. On a Saturday night, walking around downtown, stumbled into a Londoner Beefeater costumed doorman at the Sir Francis Drake hotel lobby and ended up on the top floor -the Starlite Room. Had good dinner, casual but elegant ambiance, relaxing views, very mixed crowd of all ages, tourists and locals. After dinner, we discovered that there was also music and dancing at night. Man oh man! What a transformation that was. it was like totally like two different places, like day and night - literally. The fantastic band there that night was called "Too Smooth" and we all thought wow, their name pretty much summed up the high energy show , crowd pleasing music and atmosphere and while at it, maintained the elegance and classy-smooth ambiance at Harry Denton's Starlite Room. That night was such a great San Francisco treat for us. As for us New Yorkers, we'd definitely do it again at Harry Denton's Starlite Room.

Worth its reputation

The Starlight Room is famous far and wide for a reason! Locals and tourists mix with wild abandon, and the result is a great evening with not-too-shabby city views through the panoramic windows. Take one part plush and sexy decor, one part big dance floor, and two parts wicked cosmo and you have yourself a first-rate evening!

The place got packed, no tables available and the bar area was over crowded also. Otherwise, thought the cover was resonable, and the live music and the dj were great. It was the end to a perfect romantic evening where we wanted to have a good time dancing.
