Known as the best spot in the marina for hip-hop turntabling and dancing, HiFi plays host to an undulating throng of recent college grads on weekends. The main decorative elements of this small club are a backlit screen of Mondrian-esque color bars and a wall of dimpled vinyl behind the bar, evoking a cool retro vibe. Otherwise HiFi's look is a bit bare bones, giving itself over more so to crowdedness than contemplation. It may take some elbowing to squeeze past the preppy guys with their striped button-downs, gelled hair and blond female companions. In back, a small dance floor and raised vinyl-booth lounge allows for plenty of rhythmic head-bobbing and dancing to hip-hop, house, and top-40, as well as classic '80s on Thursday nights. While it may get a little sweaty and a little sloppy, the crowd is universally attractive, loud and fun-loving. True to the description on HiFi's website: "You cannot be a wallflower here. This place likes to party."

if you like to dance to hip-hop but don't like huge clubs, this is for you. there's a long bar with a small dancefloor at the back (although they are doing rennovations, who knows what it will look like when they are done). saturdays are almost always good, if you go early you can get a booth to sit in. bartenders are nice, the people can sometimes be annoying, but that happens anywhere. it's almost always a good time.

A friend recommended this club to me. I got the telephone from Digital city.com and called to get info on what kind of music they play. According to the message for Friday nights the type of music to be played should have been House/Funk/Soul and Hip Hop...instaed ALL I HEARD WAS TECHNO. It sounded like they played the same song OVER & OVER & OVER. I would have enjoyed my self more if the music had a little variety. I rate this club= 2 stars for wasting my damn time. And giving me a headache. I like techno, but damn can I hearsomething else for 10 minutes????

This bar is very deceiving from the outside. Once inside, the atmoshpere was hip and eclectic. The DJ was spinning a great cross mix of music. Small dancefloor which was packed by the end of the night. Great service (Thanks Heather!) and drinks. Highly recommended!
